Artist statement:
"I was 16 years old when I first snorkeled along a beautiful Red Sea coral reef in Jordan. I fell in love with the stunning coral gardens, with the abundance of shapes and colours and the vibrancy of its lifeforms. The realisation that we might lose these wonders of nature makes me incredibly sad." Context: What will happen if the oceans get warmer? Scientists agree that rising ocean temperatures will lead to increased coral bleaching and consequently dying off. "We are not doomed to lose all corals to bleaching, but we need to act now if we want to protect coral for future generations. Small, daily actions can help reduce coral reef loss, like reducing stormwater and fertilizer runoff or avoiding herbicides and pesticides. But if we really want to solve the coral bleaching problem, we must address climate change. That means global, comprehensive, and immediate action to reduce emissions..." (WWF website) >> home |
